Skies: From Scrumptious to Moody (by Annie Strack)

Award-winning artist, Annie Strack, returns to South Carolina to teach us how she creates her dynamic skies!

Tired of seeing the same old blues in every sky painting? This workshop will show you how to use colors in your skies to add drama and excitement to your landscapes and seascapes.

We will do several different types of skies in this workshop and learn how to depict a variety of clouds and atmospheric conditions, including sunset scenes.

This is a technique-based workshop, and students will paint at least 3 or more quarter sheet paintings per day, each painting utilizing different techniques, colors, and subjects. You will learn to paint spectacular sunsets, and along the way you will also learn to paint every kind of sky condition that you can imagine. Everything from day to night, sunrise to sunset, rain to shine. Students will watch and learn as each painting step and technique is explained and demonstrated with a clarity that makes the lessons easy to absorb and replicate. Students will benefit from personal and group critiques, and receive individual attention from the instructor.

Annie Strack earned Signature Membership in 10 organizations including the International Society of Marine Painters and she’s an Official Authorized Artist for the USCG (United States Coast Guard). She teaches painting at Artists Network University and travels around the world to teach workshops, jury shows, & paint en plein air. She’s an expert in the uses and properties of artist materials and she presents programs for schools, art centers, and art stores. Her artwork has received hundreds of awards and hangs in over 1,000 collections worldwide including USCG, Navy, Pentagon, Senate, and Veterans Administration.

FEE:  $235.  Includes lunch both days.  (All credit cards or checks are accepted.)

SKILL LEVEL:  Beginners to Advanced.  All will learn something!  Annie will provide you with a digital reference photo ahead of time, so that all will work on the same project.  You will take an "ordinary" photo and transform it into a colorful, creative painting!

DATES:  Friday, March 15 (10am-5pm) and Saturday, March 16 (11am-4pm).
